A welcoming local community

No family should feel like they have to figure things out on their own. Get On Downs offers a welcoming local community where families can connect, feel understood, and access support that reflects real life.

From pregnancy and diagnosis through to early years and beyond, we’re here to help families feel informed, supported and included, with guidance, shared experiences and opportunities to connect with others who truly understand the journey.

Other ways we support families

Whether someone is looking for support around diagnosis, the early years or as children grow older, Get On Downs helps people find the information, connection and local support that feels most relevant to them.

    Practical next steps

Helpful early guidance through hospital links, care packages and local signposting.

  • A teenage boy in a smart grey suit and blue tie smiling confidently

    Care packages

Our care packages are a small but meaningful way to welcome families and share helpful information at an important time. They bring together thoughtful resources, positive guidance and practical support for the early days.

    Practical help and paperwork

From form filling and EHCPs to meeting support and next steps, we’re here to help with the practical side as well as the emotional side. Sometimes having someone alongside you can make everything feel a bit more manageable.

    Wellbeing and specialist sessions

As the charity has grown, support has grown too. This can include useful speakers, specialist sessions and activities that support the wellbeing of the whole family, not just one moment in time.

Support that grows with you

Get On Downs is here to make sure families feel welcomed, informed and connected. Our support is built around real experiences, with a focus on positive information, practical help and a local community that understands.

That means being there in different ways as family life changes from early support and shared experiences to guidance, wellbeing sessions and opportunities to connect with others who understand.
